Pines

The wood of Pinus taeda is extraordinarily versatile. Considered to be of medium density, it has a homogeneous texture, is easy to dry, and treat with preservatives. It has excellent workability properties, nail-holding capacity, resistance to splitting, and dimensional stability. It presents a high level of impregnability. Mechanical properties at 12% moisture content.


Softwood, it has a pronounced grain and a varied number of knots. This wood also has a distinctive smell and the presence of resin. It is used in construction for beams, formwork, scaffolding planks, flooring, paneling, and moldings. Treated with CCA or Wolman Eco, it can be made resistant to water, moisture, ultraviolet rays, fungi, and insects for outdoor use, being used to make decks and exterior beams.
